Welcome to the Yosemite Motherlode Folk School!

Step back in time with our hands-on classes featuring all manner of traditional skills and topics, led by our expert teachers and community members. Come experience life as it was, and as it is today, as you learn how to spin wool yarn right from the fleece, or join a quilting bee to help reproduce one of the antique quilts in our museum collections. Learn basket making and other traditional arts from Native American teachers, herbalism and natural dye making with local plants, storytelling, embroidery, leather work, flint knapping, beadwork, and so much more.

Folk schools exist to keep the arts and skills of “the folk” alive for future generations. Learning a new/old skill connects you to those who came before. It's “living history” at its best. Come take a trip through time with us!
