About Us:
The Northern Mariposa County History Center strives to preserve the history of Coulterville, Greeley Hill, Don Pedro, and other nearby areas with compelling stories and unique artifacts, many of them over 100 years old. Open to the public since 1983, we are a 501(c)3 charitable organization that is staffed by dedicated volunteers and funded by grants, donations, fundraiser events, and gift shop sales.
Features include: On-site gold panning, gold-rush era mining equipment, “Whistling Billy” the mine train engine, vehicle barn featuring the 1860s town hearse, folk school classes, Native American artifacts, a locally-discovered Mastodon tooth, and hands-on activities for kids.
Admission is always free (but donations are always welcome!) and trained docents are ready to answer your questions.
